Frequently Asked Questions

In our first session, we will explore the underlying thoughts, emotions, and patterns that may influence your current challenges. As a psychodynamic therapist, I focus on understanding the root causes of your issues by delving into both conscious and unconscious processes. This session will also involve setting goals for our work together, and it is an opportunity for you to ask any questions about therapy. You’ll have a safe and supportive space to share your experiences, and together we’ll work toward understanding deeper aspects of your emotional life.

Yes, everything you share in therapy is strictly confidential. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of our relationship, allowing you to explore your thoughts and emotions freely. The only exceptions to this rule are if there is an immediate risk to your safety or the safety of others, or if there are legal obligations regarding the protection of vulnerable individuals. Outside of these exceptional cases, your privacy is fully protected.

Each session lasts 50 minutes. This duration is ideal for our work, allowing us the necessary time to explore and analyze your inner world. The goal is to give you enough space to reflect deeply while maintaining a focused structure.

The length of therapy can vary greatly depending on your individual circumstances. Psychoanalytical psychodynamic therapy is often a longer-term approach, as it involves exploring deeper, often unconscious patterns that may take time to uncover and address. However, after a few sessions, we will assess your progress and discuss the best course of action based on your needs and goals.

My primary approach is psychoanalytical psychodynamic therapy, which focuses on understanding unconscious influences and early life experiences that shape your current emotional and psychological state. This method helps you gain insight into recurring behaviour patterns and emotional struggles. By exploring these deeper issues, we can work toward lasting change.

Yes, I offer both online and in-person sessions. For online sessions, we use a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform to protect your privacy. Whether you choose to meet in person or online, you will receive the same level of attention and confidentiality.

Yes, we accept a range of insurance plans. We also offer self-pay options for those who prefer to pay out-of-pocket. Before your first session, we can verify your insurance benefits and discuss any co-pays or fees. Payment is typically collected before the session is due, and we accept various forms of payment including credit cards, bank transfers, and PayNow. If you have concerns about affordability, feel free to discuss it with us, and we can explore options.

Therapy is beneficial for anyone seeking to understand themselves more deeply or struggling with persistent emotional difficulties. If you find yourself repeating the same patterns in relationships, career, or personal life, or experiencing unexplained emotional distress, psychoanalytical therapy can offer insights and lasting solutions. In our initial consultation, we will explore whether this approach is right for you.
